Modular combat craft
Codenamed Project Sleipnir during development, the Rakata Modular Assault Cruiser is inspired by the modular nature of the Strike-class Medium Cruiser & the form of the warships of the ancient Rakata Empire. The central bulb of the starship contains all the vital systems & components of the ship, along with the ship's reactor & the crew sections. Each of the three 'wing' is actually a removable component that can be changed out to allow the RMAC to change between different combat roles with ease. All three wings use identical layouts & can be switched around without problems, this makes storage & installation much easier as the need to deal with multiple variants of the same part is always a cause for headaches.
The various wings come in several different standard models. The assault layout focus on heavy shielding & large banks of turbolasers. The capture layout is similar to the assault layout, but trades the turbolasers for ion cannons. The deployment layout carries a large force of troops & vehicles loaded into orbital deployment pods. The long range layout forgos shielding & all other weapons to focus on long range turbolasers. The missile layout boasts heavy shielding & ranks of missile & torpedo tubes. The point defense layout bristles with anti-starfighter & anti-bomber cannons. The scout layout have powerful additional drive units & advanced scanner units.
Each layout takes up all three wing slots. In each of the sections below, the full stats of the each RMAC layout is given. The stats for each type of wing is given in the RMAC/X section.
(RMAC/A) Assault Edit
(RMAC/C) Capture Edit
(RMAC/D) Deployment Edit
(RMAC/L) Long Range Edit
(RMAC/M) Missile Edit
(RMAC/P) Point Defense Edit
These wings can not be used with any other wings, as attempting to use unbalanced drive systems could damage the RMAC.
Some adventurous captain can mix & match wings from several layouts.
