Born on Duro, Kurill was child to a freighter pilot named Rurikol. He never knew his mother's identity since she died shortly after he was born and his father never spoke of her. Kurill grew up with his father on the hyperlanes. During his childhood and adolescent years, his father taught him the essentials of piloting and how to fix almost anything on a ship. While on an errand run for supplies on Taris, his father was murdered by members of a Lower City gang and their freighter stolen. This left him stranded on the planet and he was forced to try to find work there. Kurill became a heavy drinker after his father's death and has a hard time associating with others, especially females, after spending all his life in space. After stealing a freighter from Black Sun, Kurill roamed the galaxy. He now flies with the Yavin IV Defense Force.
