Jaecyn Riddick's Sabers were hand crafted by Riddick, himself, upon becoming a Grey Jedi Knight. His design influences drew from his master's sabers, as well as the one's belonging to both of his parents. Jaecyn built a set of five sabers, and spent much time on each one. One of the design features of all sabers in the set was an augmented crystal chamber in each hilt, allowing for more crystals to be fitted in each one, and therefore a set customized more to the needs and wants of the owner.

The hilts were made of Phrik, protecting them from being destroyed, especially in lightsaber combat. The single bladed sabers, as was tradition on Ossus, had Adegan crystals in them, and in the case of Riddick's sabers, Pontite. These crystals emitted a powerful aura that was known for cooling skins and tempers, a useful trait when dealing with others that weren't deserving of a fight. They also had a special connection to the force that Jedi could sense. The connection also created a bond between each saber and Riddick, allowing Riddick to tune them only to his signature. While it did prohibit him from lending any of his blades to fellow Jedi by way of Concordance of Fealty, Riddick deemed the risk of his sabers being used against him to great, and the frequency of Fealty too small to allow anyone but him to use them.

As Riddick hailed from a hunting culture, stealth, speed, and the "one cut, one kill" mentality were also deemed necessary. Four other crystals were placed in the single bladed sabers; Stygium (Stealth), Lorrdian Gemstones (Quicker reaction by reading the opponent), Sigil and Eralam (Stronger blade). The Sigil crystals were specially modified to line the crystal chamber, and the Eralam crystals were made into lens shaped pieces that would focus the energy as it was manipulated by the other crystals. Riddick's saber staff, having a larger hilt than any of the others, also allowed for a sixth crystal to placed into each end. Hurrikane crystals, which were good for penetrating defenses, were used as a second focusing lens, giving the staffs blades an indigo hue, as the Adegan Pontite Crystals gave all the others a blue blade each. This was especially useful, as his staff was most often used as an offensive saber, as opposed to the others, which, while good in their own right, were though of as more defensive instruments. Each saber was designed only to work when in Riddick's hands, also had bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse, and were capable of Dual Phase, though DP was very rarely used by Riddick.

Along with the use of Adegan Crystals, it was tradition on Ossus to name one's weapons as part of the "Hunter's Bond." The process of creating each saber was extensive and exhausting, but the results well worth the effort. The single blade sabers were wrapped with Adegan Eel leather in the fashion resembling ancient sabers found on Ossus and a few other worlds in the galaxy.
