The HMS Endeavor was based on the Providence class dreadnought. The sheer quantity of firepower alone make the Endeavor a dangerous warship.
Design
Gunnery
The basic theory with ship-of-the-line is to move into a broadside position with the key ability to bring the main bulk of the guns to bear against the enemy. The ideal position for the Endeavor is between two enemy ships where it can use both broadsides with impunity. The gunnery platforms is divided into four decks.
Top Deck
- 20 Turrets, 60 Guns
60 long range Turbolasers dominate the ridge line of the Endeavor. These are layed in the classic Dreadnought fashion, triple turrets with an unobstructed field of fire. These are the most versatile facet of the Endeavour. It can lend its fire to both Starboard and Port. Also this effectively removes the disadvantage that prevents the Endeavour from attacking targets that are facing its stern or bow, although it cannot mass fire fire against targets in these zones. These are mainly used to destroy lighter ships at impressive distances.
First Deck
- 1040 Turrets, 3120 Guns
- 605mm Caliber Mass Driver Flak gun
- Rate of Fire: 80 Rounds per Minute
- Shell Type: Semi Armor piercing, 680kg warhead
- Exit Velocity: 30m/s
- Maximum Accurate Range: 15km
The batteries here consist of light mass driver turrets. 1040 of these guns line the deck on either side. They are not fixed into a decided position but can transverse in a 60 degree transverse left or right. Also 20 degrees upwards.
. The shells that are loaded into this caliber of guns is intended for light cruisers. The shells are technically durasteel shells or flak that are launched via a standard flak gun. Despite the small caliber, the 605mm boasts a powerful railgun on each turret that gives the guns greater accuracy and power than before. The projectiles are graded at mach 2 when leaving the gun. The individual shell weighs 2t for the 605mm. Also xan be used as a point system defense mechanism
Second Deck
- 1080 turrets, 3240 Guns
- 1220mm Caliber Mass Driver Cannon
- Rate of Fire: 60 Rounds per Minute
- Shell Type: HE Semi Shield distorting, 2 ton EMP Warhead
- Exit Velocity: 45m/s
- Maximum Accurate Range: 12km
These are a hybrid between the 605mm and the 4250mm. As with the 605mm, these guns line either side with a similar angle of transverse. However, the caliber is much larger and is employed to assist the 4250mm ny disabling shields. The HE shells employ an EMP aftershock after detonation that rapidly weakens and finally destroys shields, allowing the 4250mm to destroy the recipient.
Third Deck
- 1120 Guns
- 4250mm Caliber Long Bore Mass Driver
- Rate of Fire: 20 Rounds per Minute
- Shell Type: Barraduim Armor Piercing, 5 ton HE Warhead
- Exit Velocity: 90m/s
- Maximum Accurate Range: 11km
The larger caliber is the Long Bore guns
As with the 605mm, these guns line either side with a similar angle of transverse. The long bore guns are of a different breed. In actual fact the shells are colossal missiles fired from an equally large gun. These are the capital ship killers that weigh from 5 tons and upwards. All are equipped with HE warheads that are armor piercing. This is what makes the Endeavour a PSSD, the ability to level stations and capital ships alike with a concentrated volley. The missiles have an after burn that give them an even greater killing velocity and coupled with the HEAA (High Explosive Anti Armor), it is a devastating combo.
Although the quatity of guns is impressive, bear in mind that the ship is 2km long and the guns are divided in mathematically, with a leeway to spare.
